The worst thing that can happen to your business

Here is something you already know: photographs are an efficient tool for communication and generating sales. No wonder, platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook are predominantly visual! Good photos are KEY.

The next question is, what kind of visuals do better? We want photos that will engage, inform, entice, and ultimately convert into sales.

In my opinion, businesses need at least two types of images:

  • Product photos: they can be simple e-commerce images featuring the products, or lifestyle photos, showing the product in context, etc.

  • Branding photos: these showcase your own personal stories to provide context and perspective and to offer a real insight of your brand.

Nothing is more powerful than telling and sharing your story through beautiful photography.

I spent many years working as a family photographer and I learned to walk into a home, observe, capture and highlight moments with meaning that represented each family and also the personalities within.

As I moved into commercial work, I managed to transfer those skills into storytelling for businesses. Learning, observing and capturing the core elements of each company; your values, the making process, your physical environment, the humans behind the brand.

The worst thing that can happen to your business, is to be invisible.

And your brand visibility starts with you.

It’s important to communicate how you came to be, why your products or services are special, what are you passionate about, what’s your company culture, how are you making people’s lives better, and why should people do business with you.

There is also something refreshing about honesty and authenticity. In a world where only perfection seems to be shown, don’t be afraid to share the failures along the way too and how you managed to overcome them. After all, failure often breeds success and it brought you where you are today. I believe we need to show more humanity. There is a great article on the subject here, that concludes: The most human company wins. I agree.

It’s time to start thinking like a brand. Document, tell and share your story.

PS. I hope to resume in person sessions and workshops as soon as current restrictions allow. If you’d like to talk about your branding photos or want to be informed about future workshops, please get in touch here.
