Meet the Maker - Mr. Kite Designs.
Promoting and supporting local businesses is very important to me, especially now. These gorgeous products I photographed recently launched today and I didn’t want you to miss it!
One of the best compliments ever to receive is welcoming returning customers.
I can stand proud and say I have many returning clients, some of which have even become friends over the years!
Having the advantage of being able to pick up the phone, and openly talk through ideas, projects, discuss new products or a new look…with the knowledge and trust that you are both on the same page. That’s priceless. It’s one thing less to worry about and more time to look after other aspects of your business.
I have worked with Mr. Kite Designs several times, and I have followed their brand developing and getting stronger. It’s my privilege to be part of their story somehow.
Let me introduce you!
Contemporary Irish Homewares, handmade in Cork.
The humans behind Mr. Kite Designs are Jade and Jo, a pair of textile enthusiasts from Cork. They share a love of craft, design, colour and pattern.
Fun fact: Their business name was inspired by the song "Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite" from Sgt Pepper's album by The Beatles.
All their products are made to order at their studio at Over the Line, Ballyvolane, Cork, but you can also find their work in the following shops:
Brookwood Pottery, Santry, Dublin 9
Cork Craft and Design, Douglas, Cork
Courtyard Crafts, Schull, Co. Cork
Forest & Flock, Bantry, Co. Cork
Glucksman Gallery, UCC, Cork
Green Dot, Clonakility, Co. Cork
Grey Heron, Bridge St, Bandon, Co. Cork
Philip's Bookshop, Mallow, Co. Cork
West Cork Craft, Skibbereen, Co. Cork
Wild Design, Paul Street Shopping Centre, Cork
Wild Design, 27 Plunkett St, Killarney, Co. Kerry
I personally love the softness of the pastel fabrics. They feel like a hug!
I get to experience a lot of products as part of my work. I need to manipulate them, style them, showcase their different qualities…. Working with really well made, high quality and beautiful products like these, is pure bliss.
On a separate note, I am also becoming very selective about the products and businesses I photograph, because I’m conscious about the planet and the things we consume and use.
I enjoy working with natural eco friendly products, handmade items, art pieces, and of course, the humans behind these wonderful creations. I absolutely adore visiting Artists’ studios and workshops for branding or at work sessions.
My dream is to see some of my work published, eventually!
