Maura, the Tipperary-based designer and maker behind The Messy Brunette, has been crafting hand-painted wood and acrylic jewellery since 2013. Her journey began with embroidery and small jewellery pieces, which has since blossomed into a vibrant and unique collection.

If you know me, you know how much I love my earrings. It’s the one accessory that I never leave the house without. They simply brighten my day and they seem to catch the attention of those around me! I recently had the fantastic opportunity to photograph a brand I've admired for a long time and have the pleasure of being a client of - The Messy Brunette.

Connecting with the Human Behind the Brand

One of the best parts of this experience was getting to know Maura and understanding her creative process. Her unique style is something I admire, and it was a great to learn more about the person responsible for creating the beautiful pieces I often wear and recommend to others.

Inspired by the colours and shapes around her, and combining modern techniques such as UV printing and traditional crafts like decoupage, each piece is truly one-of-a-kind.

Maura’s accessories are laser cut from FSC certified European plywood & each piece is then hand painted & assembled by her, from start to finish.

Collaborating with Creatives

I like to create a relaxed environment for my branding sessions, exploring different ideas. In this case, we created colourful and lively images that truly captured the spirit of this brand. Showcasing Maura’s artistic process and the many intricate details of her work, these images aim to highlight the passion and dedication she pours into each piece.

Maura uses eco friendly materials where possible, from the resin to the glitter to the packaging, to play her part in keeping the environment in good order.
